Frequently Asked Questions

Ordering the Bullet

There are two ways to purchase the Bullet. You can purchase directly from us on our website's online shop via credit card, Google Pay, or Shop (Shopify’s most often used payment system). Alternatively, you can purchase from a local dealer or distributor. In most cases, you should try to purchase from your local dealer for faster support in your native language and sometimes more flexibility in payments.

You can view the lead time for the Bullet on our webshop when ordering directly from us, or from your local distributor/retailer. Generally speaking, we have stock and can ship out by air within days of order confirmation with warehouses in Taiwan, the US, and Latin America. When purchasing from local distributors/retailers, please consult them directly.

You can generate a live shipping quote on our online shop by adding the appropriate model and voltage to your cart, clicking on the check out window, entering your address, and allowing the system to calculate shipping. This does not include VAT, duties, or custom fees, which vary worldwide.

If you do not see a shipping option, contact [email protected].

R2 Pro Voltage Warning: The Bullet R2 Pro is exclusively a 200V-245V machine. It will not be offered in a 110V configuration. For US customers ordering 200V-245V versions, the Bullet R2 Pro and R2 (200V-245V) ship with 2 different plugs, a NEMA L6-20P and an NEMA 6-20p (20 amps).

VAT, customs duties, and processing fees vary widely depending on where you live. For instance, in the US, according to the customs regulations at the time, there could be a varying tax rate of 10% to 30%, and EU customers can expect more than 20%. LATAM customs calculate taxes based on the CIF value (Product + Shipping Freight combined), not just the machine. We clearly label the shipment as a coffee roaster and declare its true value under tariff code HS 8516.

Directly importing could end up costing the same or even more than buying from a local distributor once you factor in DHL freight, high import fees, customs broker fees, and local VAT—minus the benefit of a local warranty.

Not when ordering direct; it is not possible to pay in installments directly through Aillio at this time. (Third-party local distributors may offer regional financing, and may also be quite flexible with payment type).

There could be multiple reasons why your order was cancelled:

  1. Your bank rejected the transaction.

Some banks will automatically reject an expensive transaction from a foreign country if you do not first alert them that you intend to make the purchase.

  1. You entered the wrong card number/data.

This happens more often than you might realize. We all make mistakes sometimes!

If you need more help please contact [email protected] for assistance.

There is no need to order additional parts when you place an order for the Bullet. Here's what each model comes with:

Bullet R2 Pro: Bullet R2 Pro Roaster, high-capacity Pro Cooling Tray (with Automatic Bean Stirrer and Bag Spout), Chaff Collector, USB Type-C Cable, Toolkit, and documentation.

Bullet R2: Bullet R2 Roaster, Active Cooling Tray, Chaff Collector, USB Type-C Cable, Toolkit, and documentation.

Bullet R1: Bullet R1 Roaster, Cooling Tray, Chaff Collector, USB Cable (Type-C to Type-A), Toolkit, and documentation.

All models (Bullet R2 Pro, R2, and R1) come with a 2-year warranty when purchased from Aillio or an authorized retailer/distributor. Note: Using improper ventilation, failing to maintain your roaster, or modifying hardware may void your warranty.

You may also purchase Extended Warranties for 1 or 2 more additional years at checkout.

General Questions About The Bullet

Everyone.

The Bullet is ideal for home roasters looking for greater capacity and control. But it's also ideal for extremely high-quality/competition coffees, for micro-roasteries, for coffee research labs, for small cafés supplementing their supply, or for larger roasteries using it as a sample roaster.

You can read all about how real people use the Bullet on our Good Machines for Good People site.

Yes!

Bullet R2 Pro: Expressly engineered for commercial operations and high-volume sample environments, utilizing an upgraded 2300W system to manage constant, continuous back-to-back throughput.

Bullet R2: More power, greater precision, and easier maintenance for more flexibility and faster workflows than the R1.

Bullet R1: They make spectacular 1-kg batch roasters and are perfect for micro-roasteries and supplying small cafes, but they are not intended for heavy commercial workloads, due to the maximum throughput. That said, many businesses have been built with the R1, which is capable of back-to-back roasting, precise roast profiling, and great consistency, just like its big brothers.

Yes. Like any professional coffee roaster, the Bullet requires regular maintenance.

The frequency and extent of maintenance depends on how often and how dark you roast. Detailed maintenance recommendations and cleaning schedules are available within our Technical Support Docs.

You can view our Starter Guide video for new owners for basic cleaning guidelines.

If you purchased your Bullet through a distributor or retailer, you should contact them for troubleshooting, spare parts, and repairs.

If you purchased directly from us, please reach out to [email protected] for any assistance regarding troubleshooting, spare parts, or repairs.

Bullet R2 Pro: 200V-240V ONLY (12A draw / 2300W peak). It cannot run on standard North American 110V household outlets. Bullet R2: Available in 110V-120V (15A draw) or 200V-245V (8A draw) versions (1700W peak). Bullet R1: Available in 110V-120V or 200V-245V versions (1550W peak).

Plugs: Depending on location the Bullet ships with standard plugs for AU/EU/KR/US/JP/UK/AR/CH/BZ. The R2 Pro and R2 (200+V) models ship to the US with two plugs: NEMA L6-20P and NEMA 6-20P. You will require a compatible power line and receptacle.

Roasting on the Bullet

Yes! You can view our Starter Guide video for information about: Assembling the Bullet, Setup and Venting, RoasTime Software, IBTS and Preheat, Seasoning the Drum, First Roast and Basic Cleaning.

There is no limit on how much you can roast per day, but please remember to follow proper maintenance procedures as outlined in the manual.

There is no monthly roasting limit for the Bullet!

What is meant by "ideal" may vary from user to user, so it is up to you. The Pro and R2 models offer more headroom to get creative with larger batches. For your reference:

Bullet R2 Pro: Backed by a 2300W commercial-grade induction system, a maximum 1.2kg batch can be brought to first crack in under 6 minutes.

Bullet R2: An optimized induction power delivery system roasts a full 1kg batch in roughly 7-9 minutes.

Bullet R1: A 1kg batch typically reaches first crack in 9-12 minutes depending on your voltage and ambient environment.

The Bullet does not need to cool between roasts. It supports back-to-back roasting mode, allowing you to start a new roast while cooling the previous batch.

Check the manual for more details on back-to-back roasting.

The Bullet does not include a built-in venting solution, so you will almost certainly need to design your own based on your roasting environment. Roasting large batches of coffee generates thick smoke, moisture, and fine chaff. Roasting full batches on any Bullet model without adequate outdoor ventilation or air cleaner is not an option.

If you plan to roast large batches, or to roast dark, you absolutely need a venting solution.

Users roasting light, and in small batches, may get away with roasting under an oven hood, while darker or larger roasts require a more robust venting setup — or roasting outdoors.

Alternatively, you can use an air cleaner — we use one in our own office for indoor roasting.

The manual includes detailed guidance on setting up proper venting, including what to do (and what not to do). You can also view our Starter Guide video for information about: Assembling the Bullet, Setup and Venting, RoasTime Software, IBTS and Preheat, Seasoning the Drum, First Roast and Basic Cleaning.

All units feature our revolutionary IBTS (Infrared Bean Temperature Sensor). Unlike traditional probes which suffer from thermal lag and are heavily influenced by the size of your batch, the IBTS reads the actual surface radiation of the beans instantly. This ensures completely uniform data whether you are roasting 200g or a full batch.

FlowSense: Automatically tracks the internal differential air pressure. It doesn't just alert you to clogs; it actively auto-adjusts the fan speed in real-time to combat external wind or fluctuating exhaust pressure, ensuring you get the results you expect, every time.

QuickClean: A structural design overhaul for the R2 generation. The front plate, impeller fan, and air-pathway housings can be disassembled for deep cleaning in seconds without needing to pull apart the primary structural chassis of the roaster like the classic R1 required.

Yes, through RoasTime and Roast.World, you can create "Overlays" or use "Roast Recipes" to automate changes to your Power, Fan, and Drum Speed parameters based on time or specific IBTS temperature targets. You must be physically present while using these modes.

The Bullet works with our own, free, RoasTime software.

There are many reasons to use RoasTime. Compared to roasting manually, data-driven roasting helps you understand exactly what is happening during your roasts, and it is required to register your Bullet and access extended warranties and features.

RoasTime is a powerful learning tool that, when combined with roasting experience and cupping results, will lead to much better coffee quality. RoasTime also enables 'Recipe'-based automatic roasting modes and the ability to share roast profiles with other users. Another key reason to use RoasTime is to keep your firmware updated and upload debugging data to our servers. This allows our support team to analyze your roaster data and resolve issues efficiently—some problems can only be diagnosed using this data.
