Felipe's Story
Felipe Hernández has spent eight years in the coffee world, with the last four focused entirely on the science and study of roasting. Based in Chile, he works as a roaster, consultant, and educator through his project, Facto Coffee.
From the Stage to the Field
Since placing as a finalist in the 2019 Chilean National Brewers Cup (Nacional de Filtrados), Felipe built his approach around combining hard data with sensory analysis. Today, he works alongside cafes and roasteries across Chile, helping teams get to grips with curve analysis, roast progression, quality control, and process optimization.

Pushing Boundaries with Precision
For Felipe, the goal is simple: show that precision roasting isn't out of reach for smaller roasters in Latin America who want to push their craft further.
The Bullet has been a core part of his workflow since 2024. As both a production roaster and a teacher, it’s the machine he uses to experiment, test theories, and demonstrate roast physics in his classes. Because the software makes it easy to standardize and share data, it allows him to collaborate with roasters both locally and globally.
It has also changed how he thinks about hardware and capacity:
"The Bullet is such a comfortable and productive machine to work on that it would actually feel awkward to switch to a traditional, larger-capacity roaster just for the sake of volume."
Looking ahead, Felipe will keep on sharing what he's learned to help build a more connected, technically grounded roasting culture across Chile and Latin America.
